There are a lot of MLM and direct marketing businesses out there vying for your attention, but one of the most interesting has got to be 5Linx. (It’s pronounced “5 links”, not “slinks”.) 5 Linx is an MLM opportunity which has you selling services rather than products – VOIP solutions, cellular service, home security, the list goes on.

5linx provides a surprisingly comprehensive series of services, including digital TV through Dish Network, and a fascinating domestic/foreign phone number system that… well, to be honest, I don’t entirely understand how it works. It’s some sort of arrangement where 5Linx can give you two phone numbers in different countries, and each of them behaves like the call is being made or received in that country; so you can make and receive “local” calls in two countries, which just seems really cool.

Of course, that’s not what you’re wondering when I start talking about 5Linx information; what you’re probably wondering is either “Can I make money with 5Linx?” or “Is 5Linx a scam?” – and the answers to those questions are not the same. The answer to one of them is “no,” and the answer to the other one is “yes.” But before we get into that, let’s look a little at the 5Linx compensation plan.

When you partner up with 5linx, you get access to a lot of what we call “marketing collateral” – brochures, folders with the name of the company embossed on them, that sort of thing. It’s not going to be hard to get people ordering those products. You can let the products sell themselves.

But There’s Something They’re Not Telling You…

5linx, like most companies that offer a distributor program, wants you to sell their product. It doesn’t really matter to them whether you sell anything else, and it doesn’t matter to them how you sell their product – so long as you sell it. And that’s not hard. Once you give people all that 5Linx information, they’ll want to buy.

But that’s not all you should be doing. You should have other products, other programs, things that add real value to the purchase your customers make. Because they are, in fact, your customers – not 5 links customers, but YOUR customers.

There is so much that 5linx reps miss and its as simple as starting with marketing and training for traffic and leads.

And it’s your job to create and maintain a relationship with those customers, so they come back to you over and over again.

The part a lot of people miss about this is that you need to promote not just the products you’re selling, but the business you’re building – because that’s where your long-term success really lies. It’s not about the products you have; you may have different products later down the line. It’s about your business, not their products.

That’s the way successful 5linx distributors work, whether with 5linx or some other company. They promote their business, their brand, and use it to participate in several programs. Not just the 5Linx compensation plan, but others, as well.

If there is any 5Linx scam, it’s that nobody at 5linx will tell you this. They expect you to figure it out on your own. Most people won’t.

How To Succeed With 5Linx, Or Anything Else

Whenever you work with a company like 5linx, your real job isn’t to sell their products. Like I said, the products sell themselves; you just throw the information out there, and it’s a good bargain, and people buy. What you’re really selling is the idea that people need to buy from YOU.

And it’s not just about one thing, either; sure, you can sell 5linx products and services, but you should also be promoting other products and services that work well with them. Providing that little something extra for your customers, so they value and appreciate your special contribution to their happiness.

In the end, customers don’t really care what product you sold them. It’s Never Really About The Product

When a product is available from a lot of different places, and there’s really no way to tell where you got it, that product is what we call a commodity. Commodity products are notoriously hard to sell, because you can buy them anywhere. You’re competing with everyone else selling the same product, and there are a lot of those people.

If you want to have real success in selling a commodity product, you have to build extra value on top of it. Even farmers do this – you’ve seen the commercials for Florida oranges, Idaho potatoes, California cheese. It’s still just oranges, potatoes, and cheese, but the branding and the positioning make the difference. Likewise, you can’t expect to succeed by saying “5linx products”… you have to say “MY 5Linx products,” and there has to be a real difference people can understand.

5linx will not tell you to do this. You need to work it out yourself, and make the right moves to make it happen.

Your Long-Term Success Is All About You

If you really want to be a success in this business, you need to get effective 5linx training and education necessary to position and promote your own brand in the endless sea of people seduced by the 5Linx compensation plan. You need to learn the critical aspects of this business, the ones that make normal people just like you into millionaires.

The money doesn’t really come from the product. It comes from a unique and specific marketing and promotion plan for your business, that applies to no other 5linx distributor. Make yourself different. Make yourself special.

5linx will look out for their own interests with or without you. But they’re not going to look out for yours… you have to do that yourself.

Your promotional efforts should be focused on putting your name and your company in front of your customers. It’s not about finding a way to carve out your little piece of the 5linx pie; it’s about making your own pie, with 5linx just one piece of it.

The other pieces should be from other programs, other partnerships. Never put all your eggs in the same basket; hedge your bets, and plan for the future. You’ll be happier for it, in the end, and your business will thrive on multiple streams of income.

Don’t Be Misled By Short-Term Success Stories

Every opportunity has a few people who jumped on the program early, and had outrageous success in almost no time at all. These people may not have promoted their own business, and may indeed have been part of the marketing push that brought 5Linx to your attention in the first place. They’ve always made some huge amount of money.

But when you look at these same people a few years later, their success is either gone altogether, or it’s been maintained with self-promotion and marketing of their own brand. It never lasts just by promoting the products. The short-term solution simply doesn’t work in the long run.

Remember, no matter how much you promote them, 5Linx is probably not going to promote you or your business. The best you can hope for is a little blurb on their success stories page, right next to a bunch of other people who had the same kind of success. Even there, success is just a commodity.

Start promoting yourself as a brand and as a leader. This is another direction to take your 5linx business. This will create an what is called Attraction Marketing – A very successful marketing strategy.

So you have to promote yourself. You have to get out there and tell your customers that you’re the one and only solution to their problem, that you can get them into the 5Linx program that’s right for them, and that nobody else can do it as well as you can. You need to hammer that point home, time and time again, until people in your area don’t talk about 5linx anymore – they talk about YOU.

The real job that you’re doing when you sign up to the 5linx compensation plan is building your success for you, not their success for them. They’ll work themselves ragged building their own success, but they’re not going to do that for yours. You have to do it yourself. And to do that, you need the proper 5linx training and education to build a serious success story on your own, without their help.
