Let’s start with the company that is responsible for this handy little MyShoppingGenie product. That company is, MyNet Universe, it is the maker of MyShoppingGenie and has been around since 2007. They are currently in their third year of operation and have a simple mission to ensure their free software, MyShoppingGenie, is on every PC in the world. Now that’s a pretty aggressive mission to say the least! None-the-less they charge forward with Genies in hand trying to create magical purchasing moments for the entire world! I gotta hand it to them for having vision!

MyNetUniverse is led by an executive team, most of which have a background in corporate America rather than multilevel marketing. Honestly, a team with this make-up often concerns me because while they may be fantastic business leaders, multilevel marketing is not your typical business model. It’s very different, and frankly requires a unique mindset and special set of skills in order to be successful in the in multilevel marketing industry. I am comforted, somewhat, with the fact that the President of the company, indicates a very successful history in multilevel marketing, so maybe he serves as their executive team’s “subject matter expert”. At least, I hope so.
MyShoppingGenie, The Product…
I have to hand it to the folks at MyShoppingGenie, because the product and distribution method is innovative. MyShoppingGenie is a handy little web application that is both easy and safe to download. It’s completely virtual, which means distributors don’t have to fill their bedrooms and closets with product waiting to be sold. When it is used with a major search engine, the MyShoppingGenie reviews all the internet sites for the specific item searched to find the lowest possible price. It then returns suggestions in a search engine widget right in the user’s browser window.
Pretty cool idea. And, since it saves the user both time and money, the MyShoppingGenie product is appealing to a large number of people. When you throw in the fact that it is free, that’s right I said free, then I would venture to say most people would be willing to at least give it a try. So it has marketability.
MyShoppingGenie, The Money…
If then, the MyShoppingGenie product is free, how do distributors, and the company for that matter, make money? Click here it will take you to a break down of what the company themselves describe about commission checks and MyShoppingGenie compensation plan. They operate on a Pay-Per-Click model similar to that used by Google and other leading search engines. Every time a user clicks on a MyShoppingGenie product recommendation, the distributor has an opportunity to earn affiliate type commissions.
The MyShoppingGenie tools for distributors also allow them to enter their personal affiliate information into the back office area which has potential to increase the distributor’s earnings when affiliate products are purchased from the affiliate company through the Genie.
In addition, distributors can earn bonus dollars every time two people enroll as distributors. The compensation plan is built around the traditional binary model often found in multilevel marketing companies and provides several layers of earning potential and various levels of advancement in the organization.
What About Start Up Costs?
MyShoppingGenie has a relatively low start up cost and monthly maintenance fee. Basically, to become a distributor you must purchase a $199 license to distribute the free MyShoppingGenie product. In order to keep the license “active” the distributor must then pay a monthly maintenance fee of $29.
A free product, a licensing fee to distribute and a monthly maintenance fee for a product you can’t hold in hand makes the MyShoppingGenie sound too good to be true. Is MyShoppingGenie a scam? There is a product, virtual though it may be, and it is free. It is quite normal for software companies to require a license to distribute their product, and most licenses, have limitations on their usage. So it may not be so uncommon after all.

MyShoppingGenie Marketing Tools…
Finally, I want to talk about the marketing tools the company offers. There is of course, the standard replicated website that almost every single multilevel marketing company has. They also offer promotional coupon creation in the back office along with the standard banner ads to be used on blogs, websites, etc.
While MyShoppingGenie marketing tools are available, I didn’t find anything in my research that indicates the company provides training for how to drive traffic or generate leads. Having a virtual product and a free product is a great thing, but what happens when you run out of friends and family to give a free Genie to? Where do you go then? Any distributor involved with the MyShoppingGenie opportunity will need to develop a turnkey method for generating new leads and getting new prospects to give the Genie too. Free products are great, but they don’t do you any good if you have nobody to give them too.
Summary
To summarize the MyShoppingGenie review, I would say this company does have potential. A free product that can save people both timed and money will get used. And, with the built in affiliate features combined with a multilevel marketing business model it may actually make you some money. In order for it to be “life-changing” money though, you will need to develop a proven strategy for generating leads and converting prospects to customers and/or business partners.
You can give away Genies all day long, but until you have successfully recruited others to help you give them away, you likely will not be able to give away enough of them alone to replace your full time income or send you into an early retirement.
The bottom line is this, in order to have significant success and significant income in MyShoppingGenie, or any other Network Marketing Company company, you have to know how to recruit and generate new leads every single day. If you can master these skills, then MyShoppingGenie or any other company could work for you.
